Hey Dear Parent & Guardians

Welcome to the City of Bath Hockey Club!

If you are reading this, one or more of your children is either playing hockey with us, or may be considering joining us.

Below is all the information you need to know about our Club. At City we try to make life as simple and enjoyable as possible.

  1. Location
  2. Aims and Goals
  3. Membership
  4. How to register your child
  5. How to pay
  6. Dress Code
  7. Volunteering
  8. Safeguarding Children.

1. LOCATION

Here is where to find us, be it at the Clubhouse or at the pitches (sometimes matches may take place at alternative locations)

2. AIMS AND GOALS

Our overarching goal for our Juniors is to allow all young aspiring hockey players to learn the game in an enjoyable and safe environment.

  • First and formost - have fun!
  • Develop motor skills and coordination
  • Develop individual skills
  • Learn to be part of a team

As the players rise through the Club, the competition increases and the culture will reflect that of the Senior Club where the Club Code applies, which you can view at:

Club Code

3. MEMBERSHIP

There is just one type of membership for ALL junior players at City of Bath:

Junior Membership: Under 18 on 1st September

The all encompassing membership category allows attendance at all junior and/or senior training and junior and/or senior games where selected.

Junior members are permitted to play UNLIMITED games at junior AND senior level with NO additional match or training fees.

We are keen for any junior player, aged 13 or over, to play senior hockey as we think it further assists their development. However we appreciate it's not for everyone, so junior members will first be invited to play senior hockey, upon which both member and parent can decide if they feel comfortable that this is the right time to make the transition.

4. HOW TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD

Before your child joins the Club, even for a weeks trial session, they need to be full registered. The registration process is done via the website - simply Join Us. Enter the name of your child and the email address you wish us to use to contact them and select 'Junior Hockey' for the category of hockey.  You will receive an automated email in return (always check your junk email folders just incase) asking you to set up a username and password, completing additional information and accepting the Club's Ts&Cs.

In order to monitor your account, log in to the website using your username and password and then click on 'My Profile' and 'My Account' from which you will be able to see all the information about your child and their membership. If you are comfortable to do so, please also upload a headshot photo of you child on the profile. Then you're done!

From this point onwards your child is considered a member of the club until such time as you inform us in writing this is no longer the case.

If you have any questions or concerns about the registration process, please contact the Secretary

5. HOW TO PAY

You will be automatically be invoiced for your childs fees in 4 monthly instalments from August-November (or the first 4 months upon joining the Club mid season) These instalments are requested on the 15th of each month via a statement email.

Upon reciept of your statement email on the 15th, please click the link, or log in to the website using your username and password, and click ‘Make Payment’ from the left hand menu, to pay using any major credit or debit card.

If you wish to pay in a lump sum at the start of each season, rather than monthly instalments, please edit your 'Account Settings' in 'My Account' and uncheck the monthly payment tick box.

If you have any questions or concerns about the payment process, please contact the Secretary

6. DRESS CODE

We ask that all members try to wear club clothing at all match sessions and junior training sessions where possible.

We try to discourage individual school sports clothing with distinctive branding, badges, and distinctive colours being worn to encourage a 'one club' ethos

New members are given flexibility and time in acquiring the relevant clothing with a full range soon to be avaialble at John Moore Sports or via bulk order through the Club at various times throughout the season

Junior Members partaking in U8/9/10/11 & 12 agegroup festivals, tournaments, friendlies or other matches will have match shirts provided by the club on game days - socks, shorts/skorts and other kit can be purchased direct from John Moore Sports or training kit via bulk order through the Club

Junior Members partaking in U14/16 & 18 agegroup festivals, tournaments, friendlies or other matches should purchase their own match kit direct from John Moore Sports

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

In accordance with Rule 8.8 of the EH Regulations, it is strongly advised that children wear shin guards and mouthguards (gumshields) at all times during training and matches.

7. VOLUNTEERS

If you want to get involved in the Juniors as a helper, umpire, coach or team amanager, or any other aspect of the Club, we would love to have your support. Let any of the Coaches or Team Managers know and they will give you more information or simply Join Us as a social member and contact the Secretary.

8. SAFEGUARDING

With approx 200 Junior members, CoBHC takes the care and wellbeing of young people extremely seriously and complies with the England Hockey Safeguarding 'SAFE D' policies.  All Managers and Coaches for Junior teams are CRB / DBS checked. Full details of the SafeD policy and associated guidance can be found by clicking on the picture below.

PHOTOGRAPHS

When you apply for your child to be registered to the Club, you have an option to not have your child's photos published on the Club website outside the Members only section.  This is mainly to prevent people using the website to trace children inappropriately.  Please make sure you let us know if you dont want picture of your children published outside the members only section.

SUPERVISION

As parents, you are responsible for getting your children safely to and from the hockey pitches for training and matches, whether at home or away. You should also ensure that your children have been to the toilet before they come to training so that they do not have to leave the pitches during training. It is your responsbility as a parent to ensure that your child is supervised at any time whilst not on the playing surface. Coaches are not permitted to take children to the toilet during a training session.

BULLYING & HARASSSMENT

Any potential concerns about bullying or harassment should be raised to the Team Manager or Lead Coach and, if not resolved at the time, should be referred to the Club's Welfare Officer without delay.

Any questions on Safeguarding or on any aspects of your child's Welfare can be addressed to the Club Welfare Officer

For any additional queries or questions, please contact the Secretary.
